Johnnie Maier, Jr. – Clerk of Court

Johnnie Maier, Jr. served five terms as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. During his legislative career, Maier served as Chairman of the Colleges & Universities Committee, and was elected as Chairman of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus. In 1996, he was chosen by his colleagues to serve as Assistant Minority Leader of the Ohio House of Representatives. In 1995, he was one of 10 American Legislators to visit the newly reunified Germany as an elections observer.

Johnnie Maier was elected Massillon Municipal Clerk of Court in 1999. As Clerk of Court, Maier has implemented financial control procedures, created a centrally organized Court records system, began a computer conversion to the County Justice Information System (CJIS), and implemented customer service standards for the office.

Among his many honors for public service, Maier has been recognized as the Stark County Public Official of the Year, the Ohio Legislator of the Year, and received the Friend of Education Award from East Central Ohio Educators Association. Maier was an inaugural recipient of the St. Mary's School Distinguished Alumni Award and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Kent State University Stark Campus.

Johnnie Maier attended Kent State University where he obtained an Associates and Bachelors degree.
